Madison Missions COVID-19 community relief

Since July the Victorian government has applied strict state-wide COVID-19 restrictions to combat the second wave of infections. This followed a brief period of easing in May/June after the first wave of infections lessened. Madison Missions started doorknocking with local supporters on Sunday to find out how to help the community. Five teams spent time speaking with our neighbours in Narbethong and Marysville. We offered basic services like food and personal care boxes, errand running, and general help around home. For 6 months and counting, personal activities, business and employment have been dramatically affected in VIC. Entire industries like retail and hospitality are facing bleak financial realities. Just yesterday, personal income from government financial assistance schemes (JobSeeker and JobKeeper) was reduced by hundreds of dollars a week. The doorknocking teams met a number of people with possible needs and left hundreds of flyers with direct contact info. Many just wanted a chat! Social communication was perhaps the biggest unacknowledged way we could serve. COVID-19 has people thinking of the world's situation. Men & women see that evil is increasing and times are rapidly changing. The Gospel of Christ's return and the end of sin is most relevant. "You too be patient; strengthen your hearts, for the coming of the Lord is near." - James 5:8

Did you know that The Incredible journey has little booklets on all sorts of subjects. $2 each. Like Anxiety, Happy Families, Sabbath rest, Story of redemption, endtime subjects, abuse in the home. They may make good give aways.
